Contemporary Indigenous Garden

Lapalala was designed and implemented as a fully indigenous garden within Clara Anna Fontein Estate in Durbanville. Guided by the estate’s landscape principles, the garden responds to the home’s architecture through a series of planted terraces and outdoor spaces that balance structure, softness, and ecological sensitivity.
The planting palette was selected to suit the local climate and estate context, creating a garden that feels natural, grounded, and appropriate to its setting. Completed in 2022, the project brings together functional outdoor living, environmental awareness, and a calm indigenous planting language around the home.
