Meadow Road is a cottage garden in Rosebank, Cape Town, designed around a compact but highly functional outdoor brief. The garden needed to accommodate a number of everyday uses within a limited space, including an outdoor braai and dining area, an outdoor shower, a mountain bike wash station, and screening to provide privacy for a separate flat entrance.
The hardscape was carefully detailed using De Hoop red bricks and exposed aggregate, chosen to sit comfortably with the historical character of the house. These more structured elements are softened by cottage-style planting, designed to complement the existing hydrangeas and roses while giving the garden a layered, generous feel.
The result is a practical urban garden that carries a strong sense of home — combining utility, privacy, material character, and soft planting within a small Rosebank property.
