Falcon

Falcon is a commercial garden in Airport City, designed and implemented for De Beers Group Services in 2021. The project transformed a hard, utilitarian parking environment into a more considered landscape, using resilient planting to soften the surrounding hardscape and bring life to an area that might otherwise have remained overlooked.

The planting palette combined hardy indigenous shrubs with regionally appropriate Mediterranean species, selected for their ability to tolerate exposed conditions while providing colour, texture, and seasonal interest. Height and screening were introduced along the boundary using Dodonaea viscosa ‘Purpurea’ and Tarchonanthus camphoratus, helping to soften the fence line and give the garden a stronger sense of enclosure.

The result is a robust, low-fuss commercial landscape that brings texture, resilience, and ecological value to a working environment — a reminder that even functional sites can become lively, planted spaces.
