The lawn area along the northern boundary of the property was completely transformed with the focus heavily on indoor-outdoor living and creating various spaces that can be enjoyed year-round. The massive pergola offers shelter from the harsh summer sun, with screening in the form of timber cladding and trellises draped with Pandorea jasminoides ‘Rosea’ and Trachelospermum jasminoides.
The pergola leads out onto a crushed stone garden bed planted intermittently with hardy shrubs and a chorus of grasses, fading and departing with the flighty Cape wind. Large format random edge pavers leads to the timber deck, invitingly surrounded by planters with cascading ground covers to soften the edges. An Olea europaea subsp. Africana stands guard in the corner, firmly surrounded by river rocks at its base.
All that’s left to do is pour the cocktails. Thanks Clinton and Christine for an amazing project xx
